WHAT IS ACNE?
Acne occurs when inflamed sebaceous glands produce red pimples on the skin. It primarily manifests on the face, forehead, chest, upper back, and shoulders. The breakout’s location on different parts of your face or other areas can provide insight into what is causing it.
Acne often results from the skin pores producing excess oil, the accumulation of dead skin cells in the pores, and the proliferation of bacteria.
Researchers also believe that hormonal imbalance can lead to acne. Furthermore, if your parents had acne, you’re more likely to develop it as well. Medications such as corticosteroids and lithium can cause acne in young people, particularly in adolescent girls and boys. Additionally, some individuals notice that their acne worsens after consuming certain types of food. However, in general, acne is not caused by the food you eat. Some acne cases resolve on their own but in most cases, treatment is required by a qualified skin treatment practitioner
ACNE TREATMENT
During acne treatment, you should avoid oily makeup, greasy sunscreen, and washing your face too often with harsh soaps also using serums, toners, and cleansers may make your acne even worse.
Your pharmacist may recommend a soap-free face wash for mild acne treatment. If your acne is moderate to severe your Doctor may prescribe medicine in the form of tablets or cream. Over-the-counter treatments such as retinoids are also available for prescription by your dermatologist.
